Attractions and sights

Sunset Walks

Do not miss a walk along the beach at sunset or a stroll though the cobbled streets of the old town. With 400 year old walls and original parts remaining, this is not to be missed.

Balzi Rossi Caves

The name of these caves comes from the rugged morphology of the local area and the reddish colour of the rocks. Homo erectus sought refuge here some 200,000 years ago, making use of the deep caves and vertical crevices in the rock.

San Remo has very nice beaches overlooking the cool blue waters of the Ligurian Sea. They are great places to just lay back and relax or take a walk and meet some of the people. There is a nice walkway along part of the beach.

Bussana Vecchia

This unique ghost village was destroyed by earthquake, and then repopulated by a flourishing colony of artists. Today its numerous workshops belonging to artisans, artists and sculptors contrast with the outlines of still-gutted dwellings and buildings.

Chiesa Russa Ortodossa

Non-Catholic churches are rare in Italy, so make the most of this multicoloured classic which was built for the Russian community. Church was designed by Alexei Shchusev, who later planned Lenin's mausoleum in Moscow.

Old Town La Pigna

The ancient heart of San Remo, loaded with memories and history, the medieval quarter which clings to the hillside. Some steps from market square will take you to ancient houses, alleys, covered passageways, silent little squares, flights of steps and arches.

San Remo Casino

San Remo's belle époque casino (one of only four in Italy) was dealing cards when Vegas was still a waterhole in the desert. The building dates from 1905 and was designed by Parisian architect Eugenio Ferret.

San Remo Music Festival

Attend the now infamous annual Italian music festival. This festival has been going since 1951, and attracts top Italian and international talent each March.
